Holiday Wishes Come True

Back in December we asked our clients, friends and followers to vote on one of our employees Holiday Wishes. Each person requested something unique and the most votes would win. Also, we’d be donating $1,000 to Nevada Charities during Nevada’s Big Give.

Well, wishes came true.

In February, the entire 1010 team traveled to San Diego for the day to hold our weekly status meeting on the beach. We had a little bit of sun, and a lot of fun. Here’s a video recap to see for yourself:

Also, on April 25th, Nevada’s Big Give Day, our team each picked their favorite Nevada non-profit to donate to. Here are the charities 1010 supported:

National MS Society, Nevada Chapter
Nevada Public Radio
The Smith Center
Animal Foundation
NSPCA
Adopt-A-Rescue-Pet
Jump For Joy
Shade Tree

We even got our picture taken with the Mayor!

Thanks to all who voted and help make this wish happen.

1010 Gives Big

For the second year, 1010 Collective teamed up with good people at NevadaGIVES to get the word out about this special program. For those of you that have not heard, Nevada’s Big Give is a one day event dedicated to online giving to Nevada nonprofits. This year’s big give is on April 25, for more information visit nvbiggive.com.

Our donated work included design, animation and video content. We created print, collateral, signage, outdoor and radio ads. Teaming up with DAV Productions we created five PSA videos interviewing the amazing cast of Cirque Du Soleil’s Zarkana, Vegas’ own Holly Madison, puppeteer and comedian Terry Fator and funny man Brad Garret.

In its inaugural year, 2012, Nevada Big Give raised nearly $500,000 and we are hoping to raise over $1,000,000 in donations this year. Stay tuned for the grand total!

View all the PSA’s below, and on April 25th donate to your favorite Nevada charity, or discover and donate to a new one. Give at nvbiggive.com.

Holiday Wish Winner

We’re going to San Diego!

Thank you to all who voted on our Holiday site. Not only did you vote for our entire team to attend our weekly status meeting in San Diego, but you helped raise $1,000 for Nevada charities.

We’ll be donating to our favorite charities on April 25, Nevada’s Big Give Day, and encourage you to also pick a favorite charity or two to support that day.

Stay tuned, and we’ll report back on all the San Diego shenanigans when they go down.

Happy Holidays, and thanks for making our Holiday Wish a success.

- The 1010 Team

Small Biz Award Recognition

We were honored by the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce as a finalist for the recent Small Business Excellence Awards. We had a fabulous time at the luncheon held at the Paris Casino. Alex Epstein of the famous and family-owned El Cortez spoke and reminded us all how lucky we are to work and play in a city like Las Vegas. We were also throughly entertained by Dr. Rex Liu’s singing acceptance speech, the recipient of the Minority-Owned Business of the Year Award.

1010 was a finalist for the Small Business of the Year Award in the five employees or fewer category (at the time of entry we were just 4… now 7!!). We want to congratulate our fellow finalist Media One Pro, and the award winner, Cigarette Pollution Solutions.

After the award ceremony, we celebrated the best way we knew how. Champagne and craps at El Cortez!

1010 Collective Exhibitions – Phonetography

The best camera is the one you have with you. And for most, that camera is just one function of their smart phone.

At this month’s event, we’re featuring photography that Las Vegas locals have created using only their smart phones. These images provide a unique look at a day in the life of Vegas. We’ve teamed up with another local company, CanvasPop, who is the premier sponsor and exclusive canvas printer for this event.

So, please join us for this one-day event. It’s going to be phone-tastic… phone-tacular… phone… eh, you get the point. See you there!

You can RSVP on our Facebook event if you want to give us the heads up you’re joining us.

Brand Beers hosted by 1010 Collective

In January we’re kicking off a monthly happy hour event we helped create.
Brand Beers is a new effort by the AAF to promote the Las Vegas advertising community amongst our peers. Each month a different agency in town will “host” the happy hour at their local watering hole.

Of course we wanted to kick it off right, 1010 style. And be sure attend early, we’re picking up the first drink for the first ten ad people in the door. See you there!

This event is free and you’re not obligated to RSVP, but if you want to give us a heads up you’re stopping by, please let us know on Facebook here or on the AAF site here.

Nevada’s Big Give – One State, One Day

1010 Collective loves our community. And we put our efforts where our hearts are. Nevada’s Big Give is among the charities we support. Our work for the statewide one-day event includes developing a name for the event, and then building a brand identity to support it.

Nevada’s Big Give will be held on November 17, with dozens of charities supported by the initiative that encourages people throughout the state of Nevada to take a few minutes to make a donation that will make a big difference.

To help encourage donations, we created a warm and welcoming brand identity that we’ve blown out across all mediums. The charities involved in the event are counting on Nevada’s Big Give to deliver. We’re glad to be doing our part to make that happen this November.

So on November 17th, please visit http://www.NVBigGive.org to make a donation towards the Nevada charity of your choice. Some of the charities and non-profits our team will be donating towards are some of our very own clients: The Smith Center, Opportunity Village, Candlelighters and St. Judes Ranch.

OV Nation

Starting a movement for Opportunity Village.

Not very often do you get a chance to create a movement from the ground level. Luckily that was the goal presented to us from our friends at Opportunity Village.

For those uninitiated to the cause of “Las Vegas’ Favorite Charity,” Opportunity Village helps mentally disabled adults find a purpose and voice. Their work includes providing advanced care and careers for those that age out of the state support system.

An important part of what makes OV successful, and keeps its efforts to help those in need moving forward, is always keeping focused on future challenges. With that long-term thinking in mind, the organization realized that adding younger supports should become a high priority.

In looking at this challenge, the organization realized that younger people weren’t aware that they could help out charities, they thought it was something older, more established people did. And for those that did want to help, figuring out how wasn’t the easiest task.

Along with the team from Opportunity Village, 1010 Collective developed the campaign of “What’s Your 12?” to challenge supporters to help gain 12,000 Facebook followers, 12,000 hours of volunteer work and 12,000 new donors by the date 12.12.12. These goals were created to help engagement and establish the culture of OV Nation. Thus, OV Nation was born.

OV Nation is powered by a new generation of supporters from young adults in high school, to those just settling in to the course of their career. The clear and simple message is that you can help, it’s easy to help and here’s how you help. The messaging is delivered with a dynamic website we designed and built – http://www.ovnation.org – that clearly illustrates how easy it tis to become part of OV Nation with a dynamic, horizontal layout designed to get people excited about being involved.

In August OV Nation formally launched with the OV Nation Vegas LUV Fest. A food truck rally we helped develop along with our friends at Slidin Thru. We’re proud of our involvement and committed to helping Opportunity Village and seeing OV Nation succeed.  We’re only getting starting helping our friends at OV build a stronger community.

So What’s Your 12?

It Gets Better – 24 Hour Fitness

The It Gets Better project is something we here at 1010 Collective feel very strongly about. So when Barkley called to team up on the latest 24 Hour Fitness project promoting their team members It Gets Better stories, we couldn’t have been more excited.

When tasked with the project we were determined to let the team members voices and stories shine. We couldn’t have asked for a better group of people. The 24 Hour Fitness team members were open, candid, thoughtful and gracious. All realizing the importance of the project and their words. To allow for an even more comfortable atmosphere to share their stories, we produced, shot, edited and finished this project with just a two person crew.

If you’re not familiar, this is an extremely important effort. “The It Gets Better Project was created to show young LGBT people the levels of happiness, potential, and positivity their lives will reach – if they can just get through their teen years. The It Gets Better Project wants to remind teenagers in the LGBT community that they are not alone — and it WILL get better.”

Thanks again to all the 24 Hour Fitness team members involved and all the internal people at 24 Hour Fitness that pushed this project forward.

Candlelighters 2011 Evening of Hope

Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization that helps children and their families in southern Nevada in their battle against cancer. Candlelighters holds its2011 Evening of Hope fundraiser each spring to raise funds to provide their much-needed programs and services to the young people they support at no cost to their families. 1010 Collective designed and built a website to help generate event awareness and drive ticket sales and sponsorships, while honoring sponsors whose generous donations make sure that every dollar generated by the 2011 Evening of Hope goes towards helping children. We were glad to help out, and look forward to seeing you at Rumor for the event on April 29th.
