Holiday Wishes Come True

Back in December we asked our clients, friends and followers to vote on one of our employees Holiday Wishes. Each person requested something unique and the most votes would win. Also, we’d be donating $1,000 to Nevada Charities during Nevada’s Big Give.

Well, wishes came true.

In February, the entire 1010 team traveled to San Diego for the day to hold our weekly status meeting on the beach. We had a little bit of sun, and a lot of fun. Here’s a video recap to see for yourself:

Addys 2013: 10 Is Our Lucky Number

Team 1010 got all gussied up for the 2013 ADDY Awards. We had a great time sharing drinks and laughs with the local ad community and checking out all the great work that has been produced in the past year.

By the end of the night, we walked away with 5 Gold and 5 Silver awards. Yep, that’s right, 10 ADDYs.

UPDATE: We just found out that we also earned Three Silver ADDYs at the District level. So proud of our team as the competition is steep.

1010 Collective Welcomes Anne Tso

Anne Tso is the newest addition to 1010. As our Art Director she will work on all aspects of our clients brands including print, web design, and brand development. At 1010 Collective, she is working with several clients including Wynn Las Vegas, The Smith Center for the Performing Arts and El Cortez Hotel and Casino.

Anne received her bachelor’s degree in visual communications from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She began her career as a junior graphic designer for SK+G, where she helped with campaign creation, prepressing files, creating logos and direct mail pieces.

Before joining 1010 Collective, Anne worked for companies including Emergency Room Creative, Greenbaum Marketing Communications and most recently, was a Senior Graphic Designer for Caesars Entertainment. She also has business experience with skills she learned while owning and operating B.F.G. Chicken Strips, a restaurant she created with her family.

We are so happy to have her, her funny email forwards, and the plethora of snacks that she keeps at her desk.

The holidays are a big deal at 1010. And we’re the giving kind. So for this season we decided to ask our clients, friends and families to help grant a holiday wish for one of our 1010 employees. By voting for their favorite wish, they’d also be racking up $1 per vote for Nevada charities. Some of the wishes included manis and pedis for the whole office, stand-up comedy classes and customized action figures.

The Lap(top) of Luxury

Wynn Las Vegas isn’t like any other property. The attention to detail and the level of luxury you encounter at every turn is unmatched anywhere in the country, possibly the world. Time To Get Practical

So let’s start off with the bad news – we’re all going to die. Not right this second, but eventually. Until then, we have time to plan and get our affairs in order. That’s where Practical Plans comes in. They’ve been providing estate planning services to  Californians with simple assets and family situations since 2010.

Practical Plans came to 1010 Collective in search of a makeover. Not just visually, but structurally as well. How could we increase conversions and make it easier for the site’s users to understand the complexities of estate planning? Well, the first thing we did was inject some LIFE into the site. When you’re talking about a serious topic, and let’s be honest, depressing and downright scary to a lot of people, you need to keep it light wherever possible.

Gone were the drab blues and black and white photography. Gone were the extensive explanations that often left people paralyzed and confused. Instead, the site was infused with color and playful iconography and filled with bite-size morsels of content (written by the talented Chris Brown (thechrisbrownexperience.com) and simple calls to action that allow users to work at their own pace. The result is a user-friendly experience that elevates the brand and simplifies its messaging.

Small Biz Award Recognition

We were honored by the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce as a finalist for the recent Small Business Excellence Awards. We had a fabulous time at the luncheon held at the Paris Casino. Alex Epstein of the famous and family-owned El Cortez spoke and reminded us all how lucky we are to work and play in a city like Las Vegas. We were also throughly entertained by Dr. Rex Liu’s singing acceptance speech, the recipient of the Minority-Owned Business of the Year Award.

1010 was a finalist for the Small Business of the Year Award in the five employees or fewer category (at the time of entry we were just 4… now 7!!). We want to congratulate our fellow finalist Media One Pro, and the award winner, Cigarette Pollution Solutions.

After the award ceremony, we celebrated the best way we knew how. Champagne and craps at El Cortez!

Wicked Creative Gets A New Look

Wicked Creative, a local PR agency founded in 2007, tasked 1010 Collective with creating a brand new website to showcase Wicked’s stunning work for some of Vegas entertainment’s heavy hitters.

Wicked Creative specializes in public relations, marketing and social media for clients including Michael Boychuck, Cabo Wabo and Chateau Nightclub. 1010 wanted to create a site just as fun and funky as the events they hold for clients.

 

As we began working with Wicked, the first thing we noticed was they work hard. The phrase “No rest for the Wicked” couldn’t be more fitting for this group of pedal-to-the-metal professionals. So we wanted a site that works just as hard as they do. The new site displays their clients, staff, and events in a fun, engaging way to clearly communicate the depth and breadth of experience Wicked Creative offers it’s partners.

1010 Collective Welcomes Bridgit Space

We’re really excited to announce the latest 1010-er, Bridgit Space. She’ll be an Account Executive working on all the awesome clients we are fortunate enough to have.

A Cleveland native, Bridgit came direct from being a copy sales and marketing executive for The Plain Dealer, one of the nation’s top 20 and largest daily newspapers. She created dynamic promotions that increased brand awareness and revenue sales working closely with high-profile brands including Starbucks, Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Hard Rock Café and all major Cleveland sports franchises. (Can Cleveland sports franchises be considered “major” at this time?? Sorry, side note from Glen)

With a bachelor’s degree in marketing and advertising from John Carroll University, Space will be a well-rounded asset to 1010 Collective, offering her years of experience in journalism, sales and the health industry.

Bridgit has established herself as the most outdoors-y of our team. How? She has gone rock climbing and camping, at least once. So she immediately beats out the rest of us. We’re so happy to have her.

2012 Addys

The past year was huge for 1010. We moved downtown. We helped our community through work with OV Nation, Nevada’s Big Give, Candlelighter’s and St. Judes Ranch. And we established ourselves as trusted partners of our clients.

So the 2012 Addy’s capped that off with a great night for 1010 Collective. When the show ended we were carrying home one gold, three silver and two bronze Addys.


Our very own Holiday Scramble took home gold in the Ad Industry Self Promotion category. We’re extremely proud for the recognition. Our clients look to us to creative innovative messages for their brands, we might as well do it for ourselves too. Plus, we had a blast putting this together.

When we were tasked with rebranding Nationwide Power we knew we could do something special. They were a solid brand within their industry, but just weren’t portraying themselves as such. The first task was creating a new logo, which had to stack up agains GE, Mitsubishi, Toshiba and other global brands they offered. The resulting logo not only won an Addy, but has firmly established Nationwide Power as a premier player in their industry.

The Royal House is one of the hidden gems of Vegas. And they like it that way. Practically on the Strip, but it’s the kind of place you’re more likely to bump into a local in-the-know. But when people do hear about it, they head to the website to learn more. So we needed to portray the vibe of the Royal House while still getting across enough information to entice people to visit. The resulting site won a Silver Addy.

If we can’t portray ourselves on our own site we fail. Big time. So our site is infused with our own passions and energy as well as all the great work for our clients.

The Smith Center is an incredibly important project for Las Vegas. Inserting world-class performing arts into a city, and transforming an area of downtown in desperate need for life. We have been fortunate to help The Smith Center in their efforts digitally. Primarily with building their new site. When we met Chef Jet Tila he was just on the cusp of stardom. And since, he has blown up. Appearing on Iron Chef America, opening the hot new restaurant The Charleston in Santa Monica, CA and starring in a new TV show. This video profile piece we created helped portray Jet as he is perceived in daily life. Giving a glimpse into the life of a chef on the Las Vegas Strip.

For the second year in a row 1010 Collective has been tapped to handle the digital efforts of Bon Appétit‘s Vegas Uncork’d Food and Wine Festival. However, this year is a little different. We completely rebuilt the Vegas Uncork’d website from the ground up. The path for conversions are clearer, the information is easier to access and the back-end CMS is ideal for a client who has to make event detail changes quickly.

Jeff White Custom Jewelry

Like our very own 1010 Collective, Jeff White Custom Jewelry is a boutique operation. They offer custom jewelry while we offer custom solutions to both digital and traditional advertising problems. It was with this in mind that Jeff White sought out 1010 Collective to assist him in a re-introduction of sorts to the Jeff White Custom Jewelry brand.

After years of operating in a secluded, non-descript strip mall location, Jeff White has moved (and re-imagined) their showroom to the luxurious Summerlin shopping destination known as Tivoli Village. In so doing, they have increased their visibility and positioned themselves next to other local and national luxury-oriented businesses.

As a result, their website needed to follow suit and reflect the new location and the new attitude of Jeff White Custom Jewelry. Playing off of the color palette of their new showroom, which was under construction at the same time the website was in development, 1010 produced a fitting tribute to the level of quality and service found at Jeff White Custom Jewelry. With wood tones reminiscent of the display cases found in their showroom and blueprint references reflecting the custom nature of the pieces they produce, the end product is a timeless and classic website that our client loves.

The Great Las Vegas Santa Run

Every year over 10,000 runners dress like Santa Claus and run for a good cause; Opportunity Village. This year 1010 Collective teamed up with R&R Partners to create two online videos promoting the event.

True to our belief in being quick and nimble, we concepted, shot and delivered the videos within days.

The Smith Center

Las Vegas has come to be known as the entertainment capital of the world over the years, but that will never be truer than in March 2012 when The Smith Center opens its doors to the public. A labor of love between President/CEO Myron Martin, luminaries from the local business community and the city of Las Vegas, The Smith Center is a world-class performing arts center to rival any in the world.

1010 Collective has been lucky enough to join The Smith Center on their amazing journey, signing on to build a web experience to match the industry-leading nature of the brick and mortar experience currently under construction.

To achieve this, 1010 locked themselves in a conference room with laptops and whiteboards, benchmarking comparable websites and sketching out possible interfaces. The overall goal was to build an engaging website that not only communicated the majesty of the facility but empowered visitors to explore and purchase tickets, regardless of their familiarity with the performing arts.

The result is a best-in-class website that improves upon industry standards, is scalable to support an expanding roster of entertainment options and, of course, looks amazing.

A New Brand for Nationwide Power

Nationwide Power is one of those companies that exist successfully below the radar; consistently meeting projections and creating happy clients. Unlike many companies who might find themselves in a similar situation, Nationwide wanted more. Longtime advocates of SEO and SEM strategies, Nationwide needed a website that could better support their existing efforts while allowing for real-time recalibrations in the form of landing pages created on the fly for specific keyword buys.

Additionally, they needed a site that could better focus on conversions by offering more relevant product content and information alongside customer engagement tools such as general inquiry and request for quote forms. All of this within an infrastructure that also allowed for cross-selling in the form of contextual advertising.

But before all of that, Nationwide Power needed a new identity. Because their logo was often seen next to the worldwide brands they carry (like Mitsubishi, GE, APC and others) it was important that Nationwide hold its own in such company.

After taking a look at the landscape of competitors and brands within the marketplace, 1010 Collective created a logo and a set of brand standards that would allow Nationwide Power to not only exist comfortably alongside those brands, but to appear as a leader among its peers.

Once the brand was established, 1010 Collective set out to create an industry-leading web experience to pay off the world-class branding. The result is a website that is keyword rich, easy to navigate, offering conversion opportunities at every turn.

Our Comprehensive Plan for CCCN

Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada (CCCN) is the largest oncology network in southern Nevada. When it came time to rebrand the organization, 1010 Collective helped CCCN rebuild its website so that it would properly articulate the organization’s excellence. With an intelligent architecture highlighting important content, the new website welcomes visitors and provides clear and easy paths to the content they need.

The website features a visually engaging home page marquee that presents photos with links to six videos (that 1010 also concepted and created) that anchor content sections. CCCN’s website ensures that those visiting the site, and considering CCCN for treatment, are aware of the abilities of the organization and its talented and dedicated staff through those videos, as well as general site content.

The website was recently honored by the Internet Marketing Association (IMA) with a 2011 Best Design Award, as well as videos that 1010 concepted and created for the website being honored by the IMA for 2011 Best Web Videos.

In addition to industry awards, website metrics demonstrate that the new site design and development has lead to more thorough site visits, with many more of these site visitors coming to the site through search engines due to the site’s improved search friendly structure.

It Gets Better – 24 Hour Fitness

The It Gets Better project is something we here at 1010 Collective feel very strongly about. So when Barkley called to team up on the latest 24 Hour Fitness project promoting their team members It Gets Better stories, we couldn’t have been more excited.

When tasked with the project we were determined to let the team members voices and stories shine. We couldn’t have asked for a better group of people. The 24 Hour Fitness team members were open, candid, thoughtful and gracious. All realizing the importance of the project and their words. To allow for an even more comfortable atmosphere to share their stories, we produced, shot, edited and finished this project with just a two person crew.

If you’re not familiar, this is an extremely important effort. “The It Gets Better Project was created to show young LGBT people the levels of happiness, potential, and positivity their lives will reach – if they can just get through their teen years. The It Gets Better Project wants to remind teenagers in the LGBT community that they are not alone — and it WILL get better.”

Thanks again to all the 24 Hour Fitness team members involved and all the internal people at 24 Hour Fitness that pushed this project forward.

Jet Tila – The Content King

 

Jet Tila is a chef on the rise, not just in Vegas, but the entire culinary world. You may have seen him on Anthony Bourdain’s “No Reservations”, at Wazuzu, the restaurant he helms at the Wynn, or one of the many pop-ups or appearances he makes around the country. If you haven’t heard of him yet, you will.

1010 Collective was first introduced to Jet via our mutual friend Brock Radke. The first thing we noticed is that Jet is a busy busy man. Being in the content game we admired his efforts. Between tweeting, blogging, a frozen food line, consulting, video production and, of course, cooking, Jet is all over the place. Despite that, and his high profile gig at the Wynn, Jet is an everyman’s dude. Over pizza and beers inspiration hit and we decided to create some content around the content king.

With our friends from Tight Salad we ran around Vegas during the weekend of Vegas Uncork’d and hit up some of our favorite spots: Insert CoinsMontaFukuburger and Wazuzu.

We love to eat. And we love to drink. And there’s no better place to do that than in Vegas. Which is why we’re proud to be a partner of Vegas Uncork’d.

Vegas Uncork’d is a world-renown food and wine festival, presented by Bon Appetit. This year’s edition of the annual event gathered together the greatest chefs in the world for several days of food, wine and fun for foodies looking for the ultimate culinary experiences. Guests could party it up with French culinary genius Hubert Keller as he DJ’d his own party. Or get served some of the whole suckling pig Charlie Palmerwas dishing up personally. And even play blackjack against top chefs like this year’s winner Jet Tila.

1010 Collective was brought in by Uncork’d to manage and update its website, customize its social media channels, create and distribute e-mail marketing, purchase and place online ads, as well as shoot video of the festival’s dynamic events. We enjoyed being part of Uncork’d where our integrated approach brought the festival’s Food/Wine/Fun mix to life to drive event awareness, sell tickets and optimize sponsorships.

Candlelighters 2011 Evening of Hope

Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization that helps children and their families in southern Nevada in their battle against cancer. Candlelighters holds its2011 Evening of Hope fundraiser each spring to raise funds to provide their much-needed programs and services to the young people they support at no cost to their families. 1010 Collective designed and built a website to help generate event awareness and drive ticket sales and sponsorships, while honoring sponsors whose generous donations make sure that every dollar generated by the 2011 Evening of Hope goes towards helping children. We were glad to help out, and look forward to seeing you at Rumor for the event on April 29th.

Strategic Telecom Solutions – Improving Signal Clarity


Strategic Telecom Solutions, and their talented team, is one of the most tech forward companies in wireless communications.  Their expertise in communications is counted on by blue chip organizations across the country.  In short, if you want to get the most out of communications technology, STS is the company you need on your side.  While their credentials are unquestioned, STS’s delivery of brand messaging through their old website did not properly articulate their excellence.

Best of Show – Broadcast

Our partner Glen Scott just got back from Kansas City after picking up some serious hardware from the annual KC Addy Awards. “Whispering Danny” won Best of Show – Broadcast and an additional Addy gold for cinematography.

In 2010 Glen teamed up with Austin Walsh and Dustin Schirer to create a group dubbed Tight Salad with the goal of ‘just doing some cool shit.’ They really honed their skills as a team on “Whispering Danny” which was created for a Photoshelter presentation by Austin. Done in just a few days on a self-financed budget the team was able to create a compelling story while maintaining a high quality.
